Blue Footed Boobie

My mother tells a story about being on a wild life tour in Hawaii. The group was directed to look for the blue footed boobie. Dutifully she looked but was dissappointed and exclaimed, “Oh no.Mine’s a brown boobie!” Silly girl, all boobies are brown in Hawaii. :-) Anyway, the story has stayed with me and recently I had a chance to bring the bird to life, to keep the story going a little longer. 18 x 12 x 24

Dandy Lion

His ferocious roar greets kids at the dentist’s office. Dandy Lion gets his name from the lion I visited as a child at the zoo. I hope one day to see another “big cat” in the studio. 30 x 24 x 30

Il Pastore

Meat the Frog

I have a bit of a penchant for frogs. This particular piece is named for a south american ornate horned frog I had as a pet. His name was MeatLoaf, or just Meat for short. While this frog has a home, I am often visited by frog bits and more friends are sure to appear sometime in the future. Although petite in stature, this little girl has a big presence in the garden. She sits quietly under cover and waits for someone to walk by and be charmed. 12 x 10 x 8

Mon Freres

These brothers are very close but have never seen each other. I love making sculptures that read completely differently from front to back. I think it adds to the charm in a garden when one can be surprised to find a little treasure and then find another on the way back form the journey. 12 x 15 x 8

Rip Tyde is one of many crustaceans that crawl out of the junk pile. Surely these creatures are from a pre-historic age. This crab has been steamed too long in the beer. 20 x 24 x 30

Sap Sucker

This funny bird has been mistaken for a hummingbird many times. I think the hummer gets too much press. The sap sucker needs love too. In fact, this one has a home already but I want to do more birds that appear to hover above the shrubbery with no visible means of support. 36-84 x 40 x 36
